Check Point Workforce AI Security

Check Point Workforce AI Security gives you visibility of how employees use AI and the controls to keep sensitive data out of prompts, across browsers, desktop AI apps, agents, MCP connections and code assistants.

Contact us

In short: Check Point Workforce AI Security is a service that discovers, governs and protects employee use of AI. It finds shadow AI, applies policy to AI apps and agents, and inspects prompts and uploads with contextual DLP and redaction. It deploys as a browser extension or desktop agent, in Essentials (web apps) and Enterprise (web, desktop and IDE) tiers.

What Workforce AI Security does

Check Point describes Workforce AI Security in three stages, which map neatly onto a practical AI security programme:

  • Discover: find the AI tools, agents and actions in use, including shadow AI, with an AI application catalogue that includes risk scoring and adoption trends, and insight into data flows and agent behaviour
  • Govern: set access and security policies for managed and unmanaged AI apps, covering SaaS-integrated AI features, agent actions, data types and user behaviour
  • Protect: apply contextual data loss prevention, inline prompt protection, file and image redaction (including OCR) and runtime controls that can block risky agent actions

It covers public AI assistants such as ChatGPT, Gemini, Claude and Copilot, AI browser extensions, desktop AI apps, AI features built into SaaS apps, code assistants such as GitHub Copilot and Cursor, AI agents and MCP-connected workflows. For the wider context, see our guide to securing staff use of generative AI.

How prompt protection and DLP work

Traditional DLP looks for keywords and patterns. Check Point says its AI-powered DLP looks at conversational intent and data sensitivity instead, which matters because prompts are free text and sensitive information rarely arrives in a neat format.

In practice, the service can:

  • Inspect prompts and uploads with context-aware, AI-powered DLP rather than keyword lists alone
  • Redact sensitive content inline rather than blocking the whole interaction, so legitimate work continues
  • Redact text found in files and images using OCR
  • Restrict copy and paste into AI tools
  • Show users interactive guidance explaining why something was blocked or changed

That last point is important for adoption. Staff are more likely to stay on approved tools if controls explain themselves rather than silently failing.

Deployment and tiers

Workforce AI Security deploys in one of two ways:

  • Browser extension: the fast option, which Check Point says needs no architecture changes and can enforce policy from day one
  • Desktop agent: for broader device-level coverage, including desktop AI apps

The desktop agent needs the Enterprise tier; the browser extension is available with either. It is managed in Check Point's Infinity Portal alongside other Check Point services, and the Check Point cloud security portfolio shows how it fits with the rest of the range. AI agents, MCP and code assistants

The fastest-growing risk is no longer only what people type into a chatbot. AI agents and coding assistants act on systems directly, often through Model Context Protocol (MCP) servers that a single developer can install.

Workforce AI Security discovers agent and MCP activity, lets you govern which connections and actions are allowed, and applies runtime controls that can block risky agent actions. Coverage of IDE-based code assistants, part of the Enterprise tier, helps stop source code, secrets and customer data leaking through development tools.

If you also run your own AI-powered applications in production, the related problem of protecting them from prompt injection is covered on our Check Point CloudGuard WAF page, which includes a GenAI protection layer.

How it compares

OptionHow it differs
Microsoft Purview Data Security Posture ManagementStrongest for Microsoft 365 Copilot and Microsoft-managed devices; uses Purview DLP and the Purview browser extension for third-party AI sites
Island Enterprise BrowserAI controls as part of a wider enterprise browser, with an MCP gateway; best if you also want browser-based access control
DefensXAI prompt and data leak protection as part of broader browser security, from Core+
CrowdStrike Falcon GuardianAI detection and response on the CrowdStrike Falcon platform, focused on AI agents running on endpoints; best for existing Falcon estates

Workforce AI Security is a focused choice when AI governance is the primary problem, you need coverage beyond the browser, or you already use Check Point and want one console. Organisations heavily invested in Microsoft 365 E5 should first check what Microsoft Purview already provides.

How we help

We start with a discovery phase so you see real AI usage before writing policy. We then agree which tools are approved, which are restricted and which are blocked, configure redaction and DLP rules that match your data, and roll out to a pilot group before the whole organisation. How Forever Systems helps with cloud security

We are an independent UK IT and cyber security provider. We supply and support a wide range of security platforms, so we recommend what fits your organisation rather than one vendor's answer to everything.

  • Assess first: we review what you already own, especially your Microsoft 365 licences, before suggesting anything new
  • Vendor-aware advice across secure access, email, identity, data protection, endpoint, MDR, cloud infrastructure, browser, AI and backup, including Cisco Secure, Check Point Harmony and Sophos
  • Deployment and migration from a UK team, from tenant hardening to replacing a VPN or an endpoint product
  • Ongoing support: policy tuning, alert handling, renewals and regular reviews
  • People and certification too: security awareness training and Cyber Essentials

We work with businesses, schools, charities and public sector organisations.

Frequently asked questions

What is Check Point Workforce AI Security?

It is a Check Point service for discovering, governing and protecting how employees use AI tools. It finds shadow AI, applies policy to AI apps and agents, and inspects prompts and uploads with contextual DLP and real-time redaction.

How is Workforce AI Security deployed?

Through a lightweight browser extension, which Check Point says can enforce policy from day one, or a desktop agent for broader device-level coverage including desktop AI apps.

What is the difference between Essentials and Enterprise?

Essentials focuses on web-based AI applications and is deployed as a browser extension. Enterprise covers web, desktop applications and IDE-based code assistants, adds the desktop agent, and includes coverage for managed service providers.

Does it work with code assistants like GitHub Copilot?

Yes, in the Enterprise tier. Check Point lists code assistants such as GitHub Copilot and Cursor among the AI tools it covers.

Do I need Workforce AI Security if I have Microsoft Purview?

Not always. Purview covers Microsoft 365 Copilot and, with the right licences and the Purview browser extension, some third-party AI sites. A dedicated tool adds value when you need deeper coverage of desktop apps, agents, MCP and code assistants, or you are not licensed for the relevant Purview features.
