Bitdefender GravityZone business security

GravityZone is Bitdefender's business platform: one agent and one console protecting workstations, servers, virtual machines and cloud workloads, with detection, response and managed services layered on top.

Contact us

In short: Bitdefender GravityZone is a business security platform that protects Windows, macOS and Linux endpoints, servers, virtual machines and cloud workloads from one agent and console. Packages run from Business Security for small firms to XDR and MDR, with add-ons for email security, patch management, full disk encryption and mobile.

What GravityZone is

GravityZone is entirely separate from Bitdefender's consumer antivirus. It uses one agent per device and one console, available in the cloud or on-premises, to manage prevention, detection, response and risk across physical, virtual and cloud workloads.

The prevention layers include machine learning and behavioural detection, HyperDetect tunable machine learning for fileless and targeted attacks, exploit defence, network attack defence against brute force and lateral movement, anti-ransomware that backs up files and rolls back malicious encryption, web and content control, and device control. Risk management scores misconfigurations and risky user behaviour so you can fix the weaknesses attackers use.

Packages and modules

Bitdefender groups GravityZone by organisation size. Feature differences, without prices:

AudiencePackagesWhat they cover
Small businessSmall Business Security, Business Security, Business Security PremiumNext-generation antivirus and hardening, then network attack defence, web access and device control and endpoint risk analytics, then HyperDetect, Sandbox Analyzer and automated remediation in Premium
Medium to largeBusiness Security Enterprise, GravityZone Defense XDR, MDR PLUSEDR with cross-endpoint correlation and PHASR, then XDR across identity, network and productivity applications, then Bitdefender's 24x7 managed detection and response
Managed service providersSecure (EDR), Secure Plus (MDR), Secure Extra (MXDR)Multi-tenant EPP and EDR, then MDR, then managed XDR, delivered by your IT provider

Add-on modules use the same agent and console, including Security for Email, Patch Management for operating systems and third-party applications, Full Disk Encryption (central management of BitLocker and FileVault with recovery keys in the console), Security for Mobile, Security for Containers, Integrity Monitoring, cloud security posture management and longer data retention. PHASR (proactive hardening and attack surface reduction, which tailors controls to how each user actually works) is included in Business Security Enterprise and above, and is also sold on its own. Licensing detail is on softwarelicensing.uk/bitdefender.

Virtual and cloud workloads

GravityZone has long been used to protect virtualised servers and virtual desktops, where scanning load matters. It covers Windows and Linux servers in data centres and in public clouds such as Azure and Google Cloud, plus containers, from the same console as your endpoints. A single agent provides EPP and EDR on the major Linux distributions.

For broader cloud posture and identity risks in those environments, see CNAPP and cloud workload protection.

Bitdefender GravityZone vs Sophos Intercept X

Both are layered, cloud-managed endpoint platforms with EDR, XDR and MDR options, and both suit small and mid-size organisations. Factual differences to weigh:

Who GravityZone suits

GravityZone suits small and mid-size organisations that want layered prevention with patching and encryption in one console, organisations with significant virtual server or VDI estates, and businesses supported by an IT provider using the multi-tenant MSP tiers. If you need 24/7 response but have no security team, pair it with Bitdefender MDR or a provider-run MDR service.

How we help

Deployment is usually straightforward: the GravityZone console can find unprotected machines on the network and push the agent to them, and it can remove many competing antivirus products during installation. For virtualised estates, plan the scanning approach for servers and virtual desktops early, because it affects performance. Turn on patch management and encryption in stages, starting with reporting so you can see the gap before enforcing policy.

We match the package and add-ons to your estate, migrate devices from your existing antivirus, set policies for prevention, patching and encryption, and arrange monitoring. Licensing is per protected endpoint (per mailbox for email security), either as a fixed-term subscription or, through the IT provider tiers, monthly on what you deploy; ask us for a quote.

How Forever Systems helps with cloud security

We are an independent UK IT and cyber security provider. We supply and support a wide range of security platforms, so we recommend what fits your organisation rather than one vendor's answer to everything.

  • Assess first: we review what you already own, especially your Microsoft 365 licences, before suggesting anything new
  • Vendor-aware advice across secure access, email, identity, data protection, endpoint, MDR, cloud infrastructure, browser, AI and backup, including Cisco Secure, Check Point Harmony and Sophos
  • Deployment and migration from a UK team, from tenant hardening to replacing a VPN or an endpoint product
  • Ongoing support: policy tuning, alert handling, renewals and regular reviews
  • People and certification too: security awareness training and Cyber Essentials

We work with businesses, schools, charities and public sector organisations.

Frequently asked questions

What is Bitdefender GravityZone?

Bitdefender GravityZone is Bitdefender's business security platform. It protects endpoints, servers, virtual machines and cloud workloads from one agent and console, with EDR, XDR, MDR and add-on modules such as patch management, full disk encryption and email security.

Is GravityZone the same as Bitdefender antivirus?

No. GravityZone is a separate business platform with central management, policy control, reporting and response tools. The consumer antivirus products are designed for individual home users.

Does GravityZone include EDR?

EDR is included from Business Security Enterprise upwards, including GravityZone Defense XDR and MDR PLUS, and in the Secure tiers that IT providers offer. Smaller packages focus on prevention, hardening and risk management.

Can GravityZone protect Linux and cloud servers?

Yes. GravityZone protects Windows and Linux servers on-premises and in public clouds such as Azure and Google Cloud, plus containers, with EPP and EDR from a single agent on major Linux distributions.
